May 17, 2007 -- A series of explosions killed at least eight police officers in Afghanistan today. The first was a roadside bomb that killed four police officers in the southern city of Kandahar. As police carried away the bodies, a second blast killed three more officers and injured a cameraman for the Al-Jazeera television network. In the northeastern province of Badakhshan, a bomb exploded near the vehicle of the provincial police chief, killing one of his body guards. Two Afghan civilians were reported killed when a bomb targeted a police vehicle in southeastern Paktia Province. Copyright (c) 2007. RFE/RL, Inc.
